It’s a Dream Come True for a Life-Long Radio Theatre Lover

When actor Lauren Rogers saw playwright David Bareford post on social media that he was working on a new audio drama, she was thrilled at the prospect of joining the project. As a young girl, listening to radio theater was her favorite pastime, and she often dreamed of what it might be like to be one of the actors behind the mic. For Lauren, acting in an audio drama is such a unique way to experience playing a character. The only tool an actor has to convey their emotions is their voice.

Lauren reached out to David and became part of the collaboration team that helped develop the script. When David was ready to move forward, Lauren auditioned with two monologues from the play and was cast as the lead, making her childhood dream come true!

Lauren is an artist from the Portland Metro Area who met David while working on a show at Journey Theater in Vancouver, Washington. She has performed as a stage actor for a decade and now works as a choreographer for children’s theater.

Lauren is thrilled by the mystery of Borrowed Lives because it keeps her on the edge of her seat while recording. The actors have no idea what will happen next, and things keep changing. She loves the dynamics of her character and the range of emotions she feels. Being a part of the play is exciting and reminds her of the mystery books she enjoys reading, such as Agatha Christie.

She admires her character, Elise, because she is brave while facing a living nightmare. Elise has no idea what’s going on, but she tries to embrace the situation and figure out how to survive. Although Lauren has no idea what will happen in the end, only David knows that; she hopes things turn out well for Elise and she can return to her normal life.
